Enjoying the present moment a bit too much :)

You and I aren't too different.

We both want the same things in life.

Happiness, peace, joy, satisfaction and being content. Maybe I am presuming but I'd rather err on the side of positive intent than otherwise.

Anyway, we go about achieving those worldly goals very differently.

While you're abruptly getting out of bed after snoozing your alarm for an hour at 7am and rushing through the morning for that 8am call, I am consciously waking up at 6am to celebrate another day.

While you're mentally prepping yourself in the shower for what you're going to utter in impressing your boss and peers in that meeting, I am dissolving my impressions one breath at a time.

While you're downing your morning coffee like a shot of vodka in hopes that you'll get the necessary caffeine to inject some life into your day, I am getting ready to fire my muscles and use workout to create that same buzz.

While you're contemplating the climb on your corporate ladder as you hurriedly brush your teeth, I am busy climbing stairs and getting in my morning physical activity and creative juices flowing.

While you're meaninglessly measuring yourself against your peers and feeling mild disdain towards yourself, I am reflecting on an older version of myself and feeling immense gratitude for how far I've come.

While you're trying so hard to mask your failures and embellish your successes, I am unmasking every layer covering my true self and fully owning what my life has been.

While you're stuck in a traffic jam screaming at the top of your lungs at cars that don't understand your emotions and unconsciously watching your life pass by, I am enjoying the comfort of my own home and stretching out on my yoga mat for much needed mobility for my body.

While you're busy tracking your assets, calculating your retirement fund and counting down the days to your so-called freedom (read: 'retirement life'), I am busy creating a life I do not need to retire from.

While you're huffing and puffing from one meeting to another and juggling a mountain of tasks in the name of keeping yourself extremely busy with important work and chasing promotions, I am clearing out my day so I can maximize the moments of silence to listen to my inner self.

While you're waiting around for the perfect day to get started on your fitness and health, I am prioritizing living a healthy life each day focusing on the small actions that compound over time.

While you're dreaming of your next getaway that makes you forget your miserable routine, I'm reveling in the mundane of my daily existence and deeply enjoying the little things that bring me joy.

While you're constantly chasing external approval and validation for your actions only to feel consistently empty, I am emptying external voices and listening deeply to my inner voice.

While you're letting responsibilities and age steal your playfulness, I am leaning into my inner child and embracing joy at every instance.

While you're busy blaming others for what your life has amounted to, I am taking control of my life and consciously making choices that get me closer to my ideal life, acknowledging that the past is gone, and the present offers us all choices to get a desirable future.

While you're busy curating and projecting an image of you that hardly exists on the inside and playing characters that you're becoming tired of, I am relentlessly living an authentic life becoming as transparent on the outside as I feel on the inside.

While you're complaining about your maid showing up late chronically and doing a shoddy job, I am sweeping and mopping my home as I cleanse my environment and beautify the abode I dwell in, consciously choosing to view the chore as both exercise and meditation.

While you're postponing your happiness to the next material item you buy or the next achievement that awaits you, I am closing my eyes and thanking my existence and feeling abundantly happy in that very moment.

You and I aren’t so different.

We’re on our own journeys, learning and growing as we go. Wherever you are today, know that even the smallest shifts in perspective or action can create profound changes over time.
